Our story

As senior researchers and advisors to university presidents for the promotion of gender fairness (past and present), out of a sense of responsibility and commitment to the academic community in Israel as a whole and to researchers in particular, we join forces to promote women in the field of academic activity in universities in Israel.

We have worked together over many years to create partnerships and expand the circle of collaborations among the community of female researchers in universities and the entire higher education system.

We have established different forums at different career levels that constitute a membership group for female researchers from diverse disciplines, and a source of knowledge and support within the world of academia. We have founded workshops and conferences for the various forums of female researchers, all of which have been very successful and enjoy great demand and prestige, and even create communities that continue to exist outside the workshop and become real female-professional connections. We created a network of female researchers that went and went.

Over the years we have been exposed to more unconscious biases, and issues that require treatment and are an obstacle on the way to achieving gender equality within the universities.

The full picture gradually became clearer, and with it the understanding that a forum as wide as possible is needed, a forum that harnesses the power of female professors from all the universities in Israel for the advancement of women researchers. This is how the Afik forum was born. Join us and take part in the challenge!Link to the joining form-professorships

We believe that together we can influence policy design and decision-making processes in order to achieve a significant reduction in the inequality in the numerical ratio of female researchers in the senior academic staff at universities in Israel, and to achieve a critical mass of female researchers among senior university officials.

our charter

We operate from a constant aspiration for academic excellence. We believe that academic excellence is possible for a diverse population, and the entire academic community will benefit from this diversity.

Conversation and learning from the experience of others, sharing our similar and unique life experiences throughout the various stages of the academic path, is our way of knowing reality and acting to change it.

We operate from the assumption that we can always find a suitable solution or another alternative in the face of any obstacle and difficulty, from a positive attitude of cooperation, in a long-term process that will lead to achievements and sustainable change.
